The Device Setting page is using for setting the parameters of Hardware, reading parameters and reading log date......etc.

1. Press the menu 1 to enter Device Setting.

2. The setting item includes GPS SettingRead LogLog Setting, Device Settings and G-Trender Only.

The device generally separates two modules, one is GPS, another one is Device, please refer to following picture.  All setting aimed at GPS would under GPS Setting, other items (Read Log, Log Setting, Device Settings and G-Trender Only) would focus on the parameters of device.

3. In the tab of GPS Setting, there are several sub-menus to set the different parameters of GPS.

4. When the connection is working and the NMEA is transmitting (it is ASCII characters), the information will be shown up in area 4.

  1. GPS

1. This picture stands for the Location and status of GPS satellites.  The center indicates the zenith position of the GPS receiver, now the angle of elevation is 90 degrees, and the top around of the center means the position in the level of the north, the ngle of elevation is 0 degree and so on.  For instance of above picture, the satellite No. 16 is located at around ENE (60 degrees), the angle of elevation is around 30 degrees.

2. GPS signal statesThe bottom digits in blue stand for the assign number of satellites, and the top digits in black indicate the strength of satellites; the dBHz is a unit of it.  In addition, a bar of a satellite shown in green or light green means the satellite has been fixed, green color stand for 3D positioning and light green color strand for 2D positioning.

3. GPS InformationThe Local Time is shown by the time of computer, if it is different from the time where you are, please adjust the time zone in TimeMachineX via Configuration.

4. GPS ResetReset the GPS module only, not whole device.

- The right time for using Hot Start”:The GPS signal is okay and several satellites are received, but the device still can NOT fix the position.

- The right time for using Warm Start”:The device was used over 15 minutes in a week, but you just can NOT fix the position when you use it again.

- The right time for using Cold Start”:When the Hot Start and Warm Start dont work out, please try the Cold Start function.

#RemarkThe signal from GPS satellite is straight; it can not pass through the metal or building.  So if you power on the device in indoors, you can not receive any signal from satellites.  Now, please try to receive signals in the open spaces outdoor, and then you can see the satellites status as above picture.

2.      NMEA

In order to establish a united standard of BTCM for a variety of GPS devices, the NMEA is set up by NMEA-The National Marine Electronics Association.  It is according to the standard of NMEA-0183.  The GPS receiver will send the received data to device, and the device is able to analyze and handle those data.

The NMEA supported formats are shown as below, and RMC, GGA, GSA and GSV are default, they can not be disabled.

3.      LED

The meanings of Flashing period and LED dim in period are shown as below.

Flashing period = LED light period + LED dim period.

You can set these parameters by yourself to control the LED status after positioning (please be aware that the value of LED dim period can not bigger than the Flashing period one).

After keying the parameters in, do not forget to press the Set button to write them into the device.

1.      SBASSatellite Based Augmentation System, SBAS

The Monitor Station would measure the inaccuracy and the delay of the ionosphere, and those signals would be delivered to synchronous satellites by the Master Monitor Station after arranging, and then synchronous satellites would deliver the correction signal by the same frequency as GPS, therefore, the accuracy of SBAS has close relations with the range that the synchronous satellite can cover.  Now, the SBAS includes the WAAS of USA, EGNOS of Europe and MSAS of Japan.

1. Enable or Disable the SBAS System.

2. Use SBAS signals for each purpose.

3. Search the number of SBAS channel.

4. Search the system of SBAS.

2.      Navigation Settings

1. What kind of environments to be used?

2. When the speed is lower then the set value, the output location keeps static.

3. Select the Fix Mode in 2D3D or Auto 2D/3D.

4. Please set the Fixed Altitude used when the fix mode is 2D (including the   selected fix mode is Auto 2D/3D, but the output positioning is fixed in 2D)

5. Differential GPS Timeout.

6. Allow Almanac NavigationIt can speed up the process of positioning but it might damage its accuracy.

7. Enable RAIM check.

8. The minimum of satellite when the power of device is on but not positioning

9. The minimum strength of signal when the power of device is on but not positioning.

10. Set the Min and Max SVs used after positioning.

11. Set the min SV Elevation.

12. The minimum strength of signal after positioning.

13. DR Timeout.

14. PDOP MaskWhen the value is bigger, the inaccuracy is greater; still you can position the GPS in the worse environment.  The smaller value brings the better accuracy, but you may not be able to position in the worse environment.

15. TDOP MaskWhen the value is bigger, the inaccuracy is greater; still you can position the GPS in the worse environment.  The smaller value brings the better accuracy, but you may not be able to position in the worse environment.

16. Position Accuracy MaskAfter positioning, if the inaccuracy value of position is bigger than what was set, it is invalid positioning.

17. Time Accuracy MaskAfter positioning, if the inaccuracy value of time is bigger than what was set, it is invalid positioning.

All track and data got by Read Logis read from the CPU of device, not GPS.

1. This area is focused on Log operation.

2. This area is focused on information of log and device.

3. This area shows all TK1 files from read log.  About TK1, Please refer to here.

You can press the Disable button to close the data logger function.   When this function is enabled, you just need to select what kind of log mode you prefer.  Every log mode is shown as below.

#RemarkPlease be aware that after setting all parameters , dont forget to press the Set button to write it in the device.

1. Disable the Log functionPress the Disable button.

2. Heading Mode

Condition 1Valid Speed For RecordAfter positioning, if the speed is between the left side (minimum) and right side (maximum), it is a valid speed for recording.

Condition 2After Condition 1 working, the Condition 2 would be reviewed.  The device will record one point when the angle of left and right side changed more than 5 degrees (total 10 degrees), and record the other point for the other 10 degrees based on the last point.

3. Speed Mode

Condition 1Valid Speed For RecordAfter positioning, if the speed is between the left side (minimum) and right side (maximum), it is a valid speed for recording.

Condition 2After Condition 1 working, the Condition 2 would be reviewed.  The Speed Mode is separated 4 areas, and the record terms would depend on which area it is.  For instance, when the speed is 50 km/h, then the point would be recorded every 6 seconds.

4. Time Mode

Condition 1Valid Speed For RecordAfter positioning, if the speed is between the left side (minimum) and right side (maximum), it is a valid speed for recording.

Condition 2After Condition 1 working, the Condition 2 would be reviewed.  The Log Setting by Time Mode means the record terms is based on the interval of what was set.  For instance of above picture, the point would be recorded every 5 seconds.

5. Distance Mode

Condition 1Valid Speed For RecordAfter positioning, if the speed is between the left side (minimum) and right side (maximum), it is a valid speed for recording.

Condition 2After Condition 1 working, the Condition 2 would be reviewed.  The Log Setting by Distance Mode means the record terms is based on the interval of what was set.  Use the last point as a datum point, when the distance of movement is longer than the value sat, one point would be recorded, and the recorded point should be next datum point.

5. Mix Mode

Condition 1Valid Speed For RecordAfter positioning, if the speed is between the left side (minimum) and right side (maximum), it is a valid speed for recording.

Condition 2The Mix Mode combines Time and Distance Modes.  As long as one of both terms is met, one point would be recorded.

The description is shown as above picture.

1. Modify the position of point by dragging.

2. The  TK4 Files is saved in area 2, double click it , and the content of TK4 would be shown in area 3.

3. The content of marks could be saved to TK4 by right key function.

4. You can key in the name of Mark here.

5. After keying in,  please press the Check button to check if the position is correct.

6. Change the icon of Mark here.

7. Add the Mark to the right side list.

8. Download all Marks in the device to the Mark list.
